A New Year, A 3 Year Hiatus, A Blind Date, New Moon and EDWARD & JACOB!!!

Happy New Year!

So I belong to this Yahoo group for women who live in my town. Most of the women who belong to the group I know, or have met, through church. But this group is for women who share one common bond and that's living in a little town called Duvall (if you're a local, it's pronounced DOO-Vahl).

A lot of the women I don't know and it's always nice getting to meet new people. Well the opportunity arose when someone on the group (someone I didn't know) asked if anyone hadn't seen the new Twilight movie yet and if they wanted to go see it. I have yet to see it, with all the chaos of the move and Christmas and all, so I replied that I wanted to go. Another lady on the group that I'm friends with wanted to go as well, but in the end couldn't make it. So it was just this woman, whom I had yet to meet, and myself going to this movie.

This situation might have been awkward or intimidating to a lot of people, but for me it felt second nature. We arranged it so that she would drive and pick me up and I've got to admit I totally felt like I was going on a blind date. Even weirder was kissing my hubby goodbye and heading off with a total stranger. But like I said before it actually felt totally normal.

Anyways we had a great time getting to know each other. She's a friend of an acquaintance of mine and she turned out to be a really cool lady. We plan on doing more "outings" to the movies more often.

When I mentioned the "hiatus" in my title, it means a 3 year hiatus from a movie theater. I had not been to the movies in a pathetic and sad 3 years. The last movie I saw in the theater was on Christmas Day, 3 years ago and it was "The Pursuit of Happyness".

As I mentioned before we saw the new Twilight movie, New Moon. To give my little Twilight "review", I must say that I was quite disappointed in the first movie. I didn't like Bella. Edward was supposed to be WAY hotter in my mind.....as were all the Cullens.....especially Rosalie and Esme (Uh Rosalie did NOT look like the most beautiful woman in the world, thank you very much!). Let's just say I was spoiled by the books and I had them pictured another way. Well New Moon redeemed my view on the movies. I loved it. It was better than I expected. I was actually surprised, cause while reading New Moon, I was totally on Team Edward. I thought-what a nerve Jacob has to fall in love with Bella, when she was totally meant for Edward. I actually hated reading New Moon, until the end, when Edward told Bella he lied about not wanting her, to protect her. Well.......let's just say that the movie portrayal of the Jacob/Bella story, had me rooting for Team Jacob! He was ALL that AND a bag of chips! It actually creeped me out a bit that he looked a lot like my younger brother, but still, redemption had been made in my books! Although I'm still and forever will be an Edward fan, I can see now how all those people who said that Jacob stole their hearts more than Edward did, were right on the money.

I actually really liked the way the story flowed in the movie and my favorite parts that they created were that of when she "saw" Edward when she was trying to be reckless and I also thoroughly enjoyed the wolf fights. I thought they would make the wolves look very cheesy, but they did an awesome job. I enjoyed watching them fight more than any other fight scene in any movie. It actually had me figuratively on the edge of my seat.

Anyways that's how I kicked off my New Year. I hope yours was great too.
